About Summiteer

~Sheffield Pike~

A featured fell is my way of studying each fell in turn and recording thoughts and observations.

No other Lakeland fell is named after a Yorkshire City.

Mr.Wainwright must have been having an off day when he wrote about SP. Twice in his write-up he uses the word "pleasantest"; he also calls the summit a dismal, cheerless place. I think most folk would disagree with his sentiment.

Sheffield Pike from Glencoyne

I have traversed the top of Sheffield Pike in both directions. Great views all around on fine days. I have not climbed via Glencoyne as per SP5, I aim to do this one day, to experience "pleasantest-ness".

Where: Eastern Access from Glenridding or Glencoyne

Height: 2232ft

Suggested Route: Leave Glenridding as per AW SP4 and climb the south-east ridge. Do so early one fine morning and enjoy the view to Catstycam and Helvellyn.

My Frequency: Twice.

Whilst You're There: Glenridding Dodd.

Someone Else's View: Liz Lemal's walk of 8th March 2011.
